New lock-screen widgets let users pin live information—such as calendar events, weather updates, or fitness goals—directly to the main screen, while expanded privacy dashboards provide clearer insights into app permissions and data usage.

On the wearable front, Wear OS 6 received a parallel visual refresh. Google’s design team has reimagined watch faces to support deeper complications (widgets) for metrics like heart rate, commute ETA, and upcoming reminders. The updated OS also streamlines gesture navigation: a quick upward swipe now brings up your most-used apps, while side-button shortcuts can launch routines in Google Assistant. Under the hood, Wear OS 6 benefits from efficiency gains in background task scheduling, promising smoother animations and extended battery life—even on smaller devices.
